我和吴敏生是同乡,我高中毕业于福州高级中学,他高中毕业于平潭一中。我和吴敏生又是同系同学,我1964年考入清华大学冶金系,他1965年考入清华大学冶金系。我和吴敏生还是同事,我们都在1970年毕业后留在系里任教,后在工字厅共事。他任教务长,后兼任深圳研究生院院长,我任总务长,后任副校长。我们都在工字厅办公,常常是晚上10点前各忙各的事,10点后在我办公室里抽烟喝茶聊天“脑力激荡”。我们之间有50多年的情谊,无话不谈。
吴敏生1993年底从德国取得博士学位后回来,本意在科研教学领域大显身手,当学校要他去教务处工作,他二话没说立马赴任。1994年起任清华大学教务处处长,1995年起任教务长兼教务处处长,1998年后任教务长兼研究生院副院长及深圳研究生院院长,直至2002年8月赴任福州大学校长。他在清华大学教育管理岗位上辛勤耕耘了8年。清华大学如今在全国教学管理上取得显著成绩,有口皆碑,与吴敏生当年在校党委和校长领导下,组织各院系进行一系列教学管理的大胆改革,取得显著成效紧密相连,吴敏生功不可没。
