作者简介
罗曼·罗兰（1866—1944），法国思想家、文学家。他凭借长篇小说《约翰·克里斯托夫》获得1913年法兰西学院文学奖，后因其“文学作品中的高尚理想与在描绘各种不同类型人物所具有的同情和对真理的热爱”而获得1915年诺贝尔文学奖。他为让世人“呼吸英雄的气息”，替具有巨大精神力量的英雄树碑立传，把不同时期写就的三部传记（《贝多芬传》《米开朗基罗传》和《托尔斯泰传》）汇集成一册，题为《英雄传记》，也就是为我们今天所称道的世界传记文学的典范之作《名人传》。
译者简介
陈筱卿，1963年毕业于北京大学西语系法语专业，北京国际关系学院教授、研究生导师。享有国务院政府特殊津贴。译著有《巨人传》《忏悔录》《新爱洛伊丝》《一个世纪儿的忏悔》《梵蒂冈地窖》《哈德良回忆录》等法国名著，达1000多万字。
