DSM-5,即《精神疾病诊断与统计手册》(第5版),被誉为精神医学的新版“圣经”。美国精神病学会(APA)耗时14年,汇聚了1500余名专家的智慧与心血编写了这本手册,DSM-5在美国乃至世界上许多其他国家都是“至高无上”的行业标准。不仅精神卫生专业人员在治疗患者时常规使用这本手册,就连保险公司决定将哪些疾病纳入保险也依照此手册。此外,其他学科的临床医生、法医,监狱,制药企业以及药物代理机构,甚至是确定领养儿童资格的相关机构,都要参照这本书。
  然而,DSM-5自2013年问世至今,尽管在相关领域已被广为知晓,诊断条目也被翻译成中文发表,但在国内能正确和合理应用者并不多。很多精神科医生“知其然,但不知其所以然”,对理解和操作层面的认识都不够深入。究其原因,一方面是DSM-5发生了很多不同于先前版本的概念和结构上的变化,增加了一些复杂的新疾病和新概念;另一方面,也是根本原因,就是DSM-5的配套应用书籍没有被翻译成中文引入国内。
