Unser Buckelsmesser sind von hoher Qualität - die Rückenstärke der Klinge beträgt ca. 1,5mm. Mit einer solchen Stärke lässt sich z.B. Butter wunderbar auf Brote schmieren, ohne das die Klinge sich total verbiegt. Die Klinge ist handgepließtet. (Pließten bedeutet "Feinschleifen") Die Oberfläche wird dadurch sehr fein bearbeitet, so dass die Schneidqualität und Schnitthaltigkeit optimiert wird. Weitere Infos zur Holzpflege: Das A und O bei Holzgriffen ist die Pflege. Die Messergriffe dürfen nicht mit Wasser in Kontakt kommen. Die Messer müssen nach der Reinigung direkt abgetrocknet werden. Ansonsten wären die Folgen ein Ausbleichen, Austrocknen und Zusammenziehen, sowie dunkle Verfärbungen des Holzes. Insbesondere beim Olivenholz kann es vorkommen, dass durch das Öl des Holzes dunkle Verfärbungen am Rücken des Griffes entstehen. Diese sind nicht schön, aber vollkommen unbedenklich. (Es handelt sich nicht um irgendwelche Schleifrückstände der Herstellung). Es sind Reaktionsflecken. Diese Holzflecken entstehen durch holzeigene Bestandteile. Gerbstoffe / Pigmente lösen sich aus den Zellen und werden durch das Wasser aufgeschwemmt. Am Besten ist die Reinigung unter fließendem Wasser mit der Klingenspitze nach unten, damit kein Wasser an den Holzgriff gelangen kann. Die Hölzer stammen aus europäischen Gefilden und sind - klimatisch bedingt - nicht so dicht gewachsen und somit auch nicht wasserresistent. Daher sollte das Holz nach dem Abwasch mit Holzpflegeöl (z.B. Macadamianußöl) eingerieben werden. Es zieht besonders schnell ein, pflegt und schützt das Holz optimal und die Maserungen kommen besser zum Vorschein. Es sollte warm (ca. 50 °C) in das Olivenholz gerieben werden, da das Holz sonst speckig wird und sich auch schwarz verfärben könnte.
