Die Symptome können sowohl durch innere Faktoren wie hormonelle Veränderungen oder Stress als auch durch äußere Faktoren wie Umwelteinflüsse oder ungeeignete Kosmetikinhaltsstoffe ausgelöst oder auch verstärkt werden. Da die Pflege mit den richtigen Inhaltsstoffen so entscheidend für die Verträglichkeit bei empfindlicher Haut ist, wurde bei der Entwicklung des pH-hautneutralen benevi neutral Gesicht-Fluids der Fokus auf die optimale Zusammensetzung gelegen. So wurde auf hautbelastende Inhaltsstoffe wie Duft- und Farbstoffe, PEG-Emulgatoren, Mineralöle wie Paraffin, Silikone und Wollwachse (Lanolin)* bewusst verzichtet. Stattdessen hat man sich für verträgliche Inhaltsstoffe wie Hyaluron, Allantoin, Bisabolol und Pentavitin entschieden. Bei Pentavitin handelte es sich um einen natürlichen Feuchtigkeitsspender auf Basis von pflanzlichem Zucker. Der Fettgehalt des benevi neutral Gesichts-Fluids beträgt nur 14,5% und ist somit auch zum Auftragen unter einer medizinischen oder FFP2-Maske gut geeignet.
