Mounts
We cut all of our mounts to order to ensure fresh, clean cut edges.
These are not picture frames, they are picture frame inserts.
The whitecore mountboard we use is Conservation Grade, acid-free throughout, 1400 microns thick, meets the standard for preservation framing as defined by the FATG.
Sizes
The imperial sizes in the title are "nominal sizes", the industry still talks in inches! The exact cut size is detailed in the bullet-points at the top of the page.
Ensure that you are buying the correct size to fit your frames and pictures.
You should take measurements yourself, ignoring any labels.
The outer size of the mount should be the same as the glass in your frame.
The inner edge should be a little smaller than the picture, approx. 3mm or 4mm on all sides, so 6mm/8mm smaller overall.
Backing Boards
Backing boards are separate pieces of card the same outer size as the mounts, cut from white coloured Conservation Grade board, and will not be joined or hinged to the mount in any way.
Assembly
The picture, photo, or print should be taped to the rear of the mount behind the cut-out (aperture) using self-adhesive tape (not supplied).
