Got order in good shape.
Wonderful flavor and when I called customer was great.
Vienna beef products never disappoint. I've been eating them for My entire adult life. One of the great things about the salami from Vienna is that when it comes to your home with your order it's delicious right out of the Box. But wait! If you hang them for a while and by that I mean as long as you can wait without eating them 1st, The flavor becomes more concentrated, the texture becomes firmer, And the taste goes through the roof. You end up with a hard salami. All it takes is "won't power" which is in short supply when that salami is hanging.
If you crave salami there is no substitute for Vienna. In fact for all sausages. Perfect for hanging if you like hard texture and soft right out the package for omelets, sandwiches whatever. Pricy shipping but worth it to get the real thing as a treat once in a while.
First, this is KOSHER STYLE, not actually kosher, though if you don't need certified kosher, it's not like it contains milk, shellfish, or pork.Second, it comes in a big styrofoam cooler with ice packs. You can freeze the chubs when they arrive and pull them out when you want to hang them.Third, yes, the chubs are strung for hanging.I put two in the freezer and hung the third in my kitchen where I left it for 2 weeks. I think that's like the bare minimum hanging time. it was well wrinkled, but a bit soft in the middle. ("No, *you're* soft in the middle!").Took the second from the freezer and hung it over a towel to catch any condensation that dripped off, but it wasn't a problem. Hung that for a little over 3 weeks and was happier with the texture. It's not as heavily spiced as some of the kosher salamis I recall from growing up, but it's got more flavor than Hebrew National chubs you can get at the supermarket. Face it, those are just large hot dogs. All in all, it's still too expensive to be an everyday thing, but if you ate this every day your doctor would be very, very unhappy with you. My wife worked on a colon cancer study and basically eating salami is like sending a wedding invitation to someone you think won't attend but will send a gift... there's an off chance they'll actually come. So the price of the salami prevents me from eating it so often I might as well invite that guest to move in with us.Still, it's like a taste of my childhood when I allow myself a few slices. If kosher salami is a fond taste from your childhood and you live in a cultural wasteland like Seattle where supermarket deli counters serve pastrami-flavored roast beef sandwiches on white bread with mayo, this is a worthwhile investment.
Coming from Chicago, I know about vienna beef. Once you taste their products you know you have the best.
Vienna Salami with mustard, tomato, white onion on toasted marbled rye! 👍
It's what I remember great salami taste like. Letting one harden on its string!
Slices for crackers, rye bread, toasted bagels, and served in a tray for guests. Always fresh and delicious.
My favorite salami
Great beef salami. I can now make my old school fried salami, eggs and home fries for breakfast!
Reminds me of Chicago
The salami arrived early. It was packaged extremely well and it tasted fantastic! Thank you so much!
I'm a transplanted New Yorker now living in Arkansas. I love it here bur the food just isn't the same! I can get Hot Dogs - Hebrew National and Nathans - but no Vienna Beef dogs! There are no places selling salami so I had to turn to Amazon. The Vienna salami was portioned well and priced right....I was able to have salami and eggs for the first time in months! I plan on slicing, vacuum sealing and freezing most of tit for future use.
Price. lol
This was all we had growing up. A salami hanging by a string in the kitchen was mandatory decor.
The best taste in salami. I'm living in Chicago and there is no better tasting salami around. Product arrive on time and nice and cold.I couldn't wait to open the box. Had lunch and dinner on salami. Now I am thinking about having eggs and salami. If I don't stop I'll have to place an order sooner then I thought.Great product. Unable to buy here in Oklahoma so it's well worth the price.
Growing up in Chicago area, there was always a Vienna salami hanging from a cabinet knob. Moving to NJ and now AZ, all I get for salami is another brand that leaves me missing 'something'. I figured I should try the Vienna and it was a trip to my childhood, it was subtly different and wonderful.
I’m accustomed to buying these two-pounders at the local grocery store for considerably more money than I paid here, so i have nothing to beef about.
The kosher salami I used to get has long been discontinued. Got this to try as a replacement and it is just as good. Does freeze well. Arrived very quickly and well packed -- still cold when it arrived.
