HOW TO USE:

1. Soak the waterstone in water for around 10 minutes. Fit in its silicone base on a firm steady surface. In use, it's normal for a powdery slurry to appear. Don't wash this away as it is a honing/polishing compound. If it dries sprinkle on a bit more water.

2. If the knife's blunt use the #1000 grit side first to achieve a good edge. Hold at around a 20 degree angle (hint, the back of the blade should come halfway up your thumb when it is resting on the stone). Move back and forth smoothly until you achieve the desired result on both sides – around 15 minutes. This side is only used occasionally depending on frequency of use.

3. Use the #6000 grit side to polish your knife with slightly less pressure. Keep polishing until you achieve a superfine polished finish. Frequent use will maintain a sharp edge.

4. Use the whole whetstone surface. Constant use of the same area will cause dips so turn the stone around frequently and go to the edges

5. After sharpening, rinse in water and leave until fully dry.

6. Place in a safe, dry place, out of the reach of children. Avoid dropping.
